Bhopal, Feb 17: Newly-appointed Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Suresh Pachouri today said that his foremost priority would be to gain respect and confidence of party workers and expose the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's corruption at all levels. ''I will tour the entire state and involve myself in enhancing workers' enthusiasm down to block level. The anti-people BJP regime has lost the masses' confidence. My first target is a struggle for unseating that government and ensuring the state's accelerated development,'' he told reporters here.
The Congress motto for the polls would be 'BJP hatao aur pradesh bachao' (unseat the BJP and save the state) and a stategy was being prepared, Mr Pachouri said while claiming that his party was united. ''A poll management meeting is on the cards. A 'Janakrosh' rally will take place at Hoshangabad on February 19; district Congress presidents will meet the following day; ex-MLAs and MPs will gather at Betul on February 22; legislators and Congress' front organisations will meet on February 24,'' he added.
When asked about formation of the party executive, Mr Pachouri added that was beyond his jurisdiction and the final decision would be taken by the high command and the party's state incharge. ''However, I will endeavour to have it constituted soon,'' he said. On being asked about one man-one post, the Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Personnel said that he had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, immediately after being bestowed the fresh responsibility, and made a request in this regard. ''His decision will be final,'' Mr Pachouri added.
