Washington, Feb 17 : Britney Spears' estranged manager Sam Lutfi has hired PR guru Michael Sands to do the talking for him.
Sands had been hired by Lutfi just a few days after he quit as spokesman for Kevin Federline's lawyer.
Lutfi hired the publicist in a bid to mend his image and bring about a picture of himself as the troubled star's saviour.
Sands had told reporters at a press conference last week Feb 7, that the controversial figure is on a mission to "rescue Britney Spears".
"We want to get her back onstage and doing the right thing. So I'm working with Sam to reinvent her image," Contactmusic quoted Sands, as telling MTV News.
Prior to his being hired by Lutfi, Sands had worked with Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, to discredit Lufti's reputation.
He later agreed to represent Lufti after he did his own "research" and came to the conclusion that "he's squeaky-clean".
Sands had resigned as spokesperson for Kaplan around Feb 8, fearing the attorney had overstepped his bounds in Spears' ongoing custody battle with Federline - and felt he could no longer be a part of his team.
