Adelaide, Feb 17 (UNI) After registering a 50-run win with a bonus point in their CB series match against India here today, Australia captain Ricky Ponting acknowledged that it was the bowlers who saved his team after another largely dismal batting performance.
''We seem to be developing a trend,'' Ponting said. ''We're winning the toss, we're not batting very well but we're doing enough to win the games.'' Appreciating the bowlers for there fine performance against the strong batting line up of India, Ponting said,''The bowlers are doing the job for us and the fielding is also really good.
''We knew if we got early wickets we'd be in with a chance. We got off to a reasonable start with the bowling then took advantage in the middle of their innings.'' The famed batting order of the World champions fell cheaply after middle order batsman Michael Clarke showed real resistance against the Indian bowlers with a gritty innings of 79 from 108 balls to help the Australians reach a total of 203.
