Sultanpur, Feb 16 (UNI) Reproaching the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government in Uttar Pradesh for failing on every front, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi today said he would himself do something to eradicate poverty from the state.
Clad in his quintessential white-kurta pyjama, Rahul said ''under Chief Minister Mayawati's rule, the condition of poors have gone from bad to worse...Sadly, the government is turning a Nelson's eye to it.'' ''On my level, I am leaving no stone unturned to uproot poverty from the state,'' the Amethi MP underlined.
Later, after meeting Dullapur village inferno victims, the Congress leader alleged almost 20 huts of Dalits were reduced to rubble in the blaze, but 'Dalit leader' Mayawati failed to provide them shelter.
Rahul was in the area last month too, when he had spent a night in a SC dominated village and shared meal with a village women. His move had forced Congress leaders to ask workers to spend at least a night in villages.
