Washington, Feb 16 : Veteran American actress Jane Fonda has apologized for using the explicit 'c' word on the U.S. breakfast show Today.

Fonda, who appeared on the show with Eve Ensler on Feb 14, shocked viewers by saying 'c**t', while discussion on the 10th anniversary of the playwright's Vagina Monologues-inspired V-Day, was going on.

"I live in Georgia; I was asked to do a monologue called C**t and I said, 'I don't think so, I've got enough problems'," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying on the show.

However, the 70-year-old insists she didn't mean to swear and accidental cursing is no big deal.

"The first time that I knew about The Vagina Monologues, I was asked to perform that particular monologue in Atlanta, and so I just happened to say the name of it," Fonda said.

"I didn't even think. I'm sorry if I offended anybody. I think it's pretty silly," she added.
