Documentary on Andaman to be showcased at ISCCC

Port Blair, Feb 16: A short documentary film on Andaman 'Beyond the Horizon', Amritjal, has made its way to the seventh International Social Communication Cinema Conference (ISCCC) 2008, which began at Kolkata yesterday.

The 19:34 minute-long film will be shown at Nandan Theater of Kolkata on February 17. Director of the film, Naresh Chandra Lall, told to the sources over phone that the showcase of the film will be a proud moment for him and the islanders. A renowned theater artist of the island and product of NSD (National School of Drama), Lall is presently based in Mumbai.

''The film is based on national integration and mixed culture of these remote islands,'' Lall added.

During his recent visit to these islands the Director also called on the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and presented him a DVD of the film.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Swaraj, who has acted in films like Guru, Jaal, Dhamaal and Gangajal is the main protagonist, in the documentary.

The film, made under the banner of Island Films, depicts Hindi as a connecting language in this remote islands.

Naresh Chandra Lall is also an active member of Indian Film Directors' Association and Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association.
