CoD continues search for SIMI activists

Dharwad, Karnataka, Feb 16 (UNI) The Corps of Detectives (CoD) team which has taken over the investigation of terror activities following the recent arrests in the state, today continued its search for the alleged SIMI activists in the city and surrounding areas.

According to sources the CoD officials had decided to take LeT suspect and SIMI operative Asif Mohammad to Bangalore for narco analysis test either today or tomorrow morning.

The terror suspects under CoD custody had revealed that SIMI activists had purchased over 200 acres of land around the twin-city of Hubli-Dharwad.

Apart from Asif, a final year medical student, police have also arrested another house surgeon Allabaksh and an electrician Shakeel Mali in Hubli. The trio were held based on the information given by alleged LeT operatives Riyazuddin Naser alias Mohammad Ghouse of Hyderabad and Asadullah Abubakar of Hospet, who were arrested by Davanagere police in January.

After two weeks of intense questioning in police custody, Naser and Asadullah had been sent to judicial remand and were now in Bellary central jail.

The team, along with Shakeel, visited some areas in the city and Kalghatagi forests, where the SIMI activists including the trio held reportedly held terror camps and practiced shooting.

Meanwhile, police had reportedly nabbed another suspect in the city in connection with this case but official sources refused to confirm.
