Berhampur, Feb 16 (UNI) 'Azadi Express', a special train with more than 500 photographs of the pre and post-Independence era events and multimedia facilities, arrived at the Berhampur railway station today.

Union Minister for Rural Development Chandra Sekhar Sahu, freedom fighter of Ganjam district and former Lok Sabha Member Bhabani Charan Panda welcomed the train at the station amidst slogans of 'Vande Mataram' by about 4000 school children.

The photographs, which gave an apportunily to the people to peep into the first war of independence of 1857, freedom movement, Gandhian era and progress of the country since Independence attracted thousands of visitors on the first day itself.

The 'Azadi Express' with 12 inter-connected and well-decorated bogies was the dream project of the Information and Broadcasting and Culture Ministry.

Since it started its journey from New Delhi on September 28 last year, the train has already covered 22 states with halt at 75 railway stations.

The train is scheduled to reach New Delhi on May 15 this year.

'Azadi Express' entered Orissa from Andhra Pradesh and would halt at five railway stations of Orissa, including Brahmapur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur and Rourkela, till March one.
