Shimla, Feb 15 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Labour and Employment Minister Ramesh Dhawala today directed the Labour and Employment Department to ensure that 70 per cent employment avenues to be provided to Himachalis in industrial units.
State Government was determined to solve unemployment problem in the state and effective steps were afoot in this direction, he said while presiding over the meeting of senior officers of Labour and Employment Department here yesterday.
He said that any industrial unit failing to give 70 per cent employment to Himachali youth, would be deprived of subsidy, grants and other facilities given by the Government.
Mr Dhawala said that at present the names of about 7.80 lakh youth had been registered in the Employment Exchanges of the State out of which 4.78 lakh youth were between in the age group of 19 to 30 years.
He further said that there were more than 5 lakh youth from 10th to plus two, about one lakh graduates and 45,000 post-graduates in the State and added that employers in private sector should provide more job opportunities to the youth of the State.
He said that Central Employment Cell in the Directorate of Labour Department has been set up to meet the demand of able and technical manpower for the employers of private sector.
About seven lakh applicants and unemployed youth were available in the cell, which were also accessible through internet and employers could invite them for interview directly.
