Two top LeT commanders killed in south Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 15: Troops achieved yet another major success when they killed two top commanders of the Pakistan based Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) in a fierce encounter in south Kashmir today.
A defence ministry spokesman said troops of 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir launched a joint operation at village Niklur in Pulwama district Litar following a tip off about the presence of militants there.
However, when the troops were closing the cordon towards the target house, militants opened indiscriminate fire. The fire was returned and in the fierce clash two militants were killed.
The slain militants were identified as Abdul Rehman, a self styled District commander for Pulwama and Moin Ahmad Mir alias Noora.
Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
During the past two week, security forces and SOG killed about a dozen militants, including top commanders, in south and north Kashmir.
