Warangal, Feb 15 (UNI) Fool-proof security arrangements have been made by the district police for the smooth conduct of the country's biggest tribal festival Medaram Sammakka-Saralakka Jathara, at a place about 110 km from the district headquarters from February 20.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Soumya Mishra, said around 60 to 80 lakh pilgrims from various states were expected to participate in the three-day jathara.
She said apart from nine additional SPs, adequate number of policemen, including the elite Greyhounds have been put for security duties.
The Greyhounds would oversee the venue while other police personnel would man important spots and regulate the movement of traffic, she said.
All private vehicles coming from Hanamkonda and Eturunagaram would be diverted towards Pasra to go up to Kothur, Narlapur and Urattam while the APSRTC buses would be allowed up to Medaram via Tadvai.
Only vehicles with passes would be allowed into Medaram village via Tadvai, she said adding public address systems were installed at ten places in surrounding villages to guide the private vehicle owners about parking and other important information.
''The police will deal sternly with those who try to spoil the spirit and behave indecently at the jatara venue,'' she warned.
