Police rescue kidnapped boy
Bangalore, Feb 15 (UNI) The city police have arrested a person who allegedly kidnapped a five-year-old boy for ransom.
Speaking to newspersons here, city Police Commissioner N Achyutha Rao said Chandan was kidnapped on Tuesday last from his house at Muthyala Nagar in Yeshwanthpur police limits.
The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 25,000 from the boy's parents and threatened to kill him if it was not delivered. They had also threatened the boy's father of dire consequences, if the matter was reported to the police.
However, the parents, who failed to realise the ransom amount, informed the police. A trap was laid to nab the culprits near a public telephone booth, from where the parents received calls for money.
A special police team nabbed the culprit Sanjay, a painter by profession hailing from West Bengal. The accused was also a tenant of the complainant.
The police then located the boy from a locality, where he was being kept.
Sanjay's wife, who had allegedly helped her husband in the crime, was, however, absconding. The police have launched a hunt to arrest her.
