No fresh reports of Birdflu, 38 lakh birds culled in Bengal

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) There are no further reports of any sample testing positive for Bird Flu from any part of the country, including West Bengal.

No unusual mortality in any other district of West Bengal was reported on February 14, according to an official report from the HSADL, Bhopal.

As many as 293 Rapid Response Teams were engaged in surveillance/mopping, disinfection and sanitisation operations in West Bengal. The teams culled 31,484 birds taking the total of cumulative culling to 38.79 lakhs poultry birds.

The latest figures of eggs and feed destroyed till February 14 are 14,90,750 and 80,033 kg respectively.

Poultry depopulation operation in the identified zone in Assam had already been completed. In Bihar, 37 per cent of the culling had been carried out. The task had been completed in Purnia district and was continuing in the other two districts of Katihar and Kishanganj.

The culling had started in the identified risk-prone area of Jamtara district of Jharkhand today.
