Hoax caller arrested within three hours
Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) A passenger, who made a hoax call about planting a bomb in Loksakti Express after missing the train, was arrested within three hours of the call at Borivali in the western suburb of the city.
The caller has been identified as Jayantibhai Mangaldas Prajapati (51), a resident of Grant road in South Mumbai.
Senior Police Inspector S R Gaikwad said here today that at around 1940 hours yesterday, police received a call that a bomb has been planted in 9143 Dn Loksakti Express.
The train was halted at Andheri railway station and a Bomb Disposal Squad, Dog squad and railway police were pressed into service immediately, but after one and a half hours of search nothing was found and the train left for its destination at 2150 hrs, police said.
The prajapati, who made the hoax call from his mobile, was nabbed when the police made a call on his mobile number. He was arrested by the watch dog police while trying to receive the call.
He was booked under section 177, 505(1) and 506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and 150 (d) of the Railway Act and 153 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
A similar hoax call was received by the police on February 9, stating that a bomb was planted in the Rajdhani Express, due to which the train was halted for two hours at Bhayender railway station.
