Mumbai, Feb 14 (UNI) Bringing the excitement of competitive cricket to corporate denizens, Zee Network today announced its annual cricket tournament ''Zee Super Sixes Corporate Cricket Challenge'', to be held from March 1 to 9.
Zee has roped in renowned international cricketing legends to captain the corporate teams for this day and night extravaganza.
Speaking on the tournament, Zee Network CEO Pradeep Guha said, ''The overwhelming response we received to the Zee Super Six Challenge in 2007 has inspired us to recreate the magic of the corporate tournament this year. The presence of international stalwarts at the event will only add to the excitement.'' The winning team will be awarded a Rolling Gold Trophy and an exclusive, all-expense paid trip to Sri Lanka to watch the India Vs Sri Lanka match.
Elaborating on the rationale behind the initiative, he added, ''Life in the corporate world seldom allows for engagement in leisurely pursuits and the latent sporting talents of innumerable professionals find no platform for expression. The Zee Super Six Challenge aims to present an outlet to those with a passion for cricket. Moreover, cricket as a game fosters team spirit, the most basic ingredient in the recipe for success in the corporate environment.'' The tournament will see 64 teams comprising six players each.
These teams will be divided into four groups of 16 teams each.
Twelve teams will qualify for the quarter-finals knock-out stage.
All the matches will be played in the metropolis. Zee Sports will telecast the highlights of the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals on March 16.
