New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) Noting that technical education is playing a vital role in social and economic development of India, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said more Engineering Colleges as well as medical colleges would be set up in the Capital in coming years by upgrading the polytechnics.
Speaking at the Concluding Session of the Orientation Workshop of Takniki Shiksha Sansthan Kalyan Samitis at Sri Satya Sai International Centre, New Delhi, the Chief Minister said Delhi has a number of Universities/ deemed to be Universities imparting higher education in different areas including technical education.
She, however, added that quality upgradation is essential for meeting the modern requirements.
''Delhi has a large number of technical education institutions and National and International Level Certification process is a beginning which would improve quality of work and quality of processes. If we lack in quality, then our country would definitely remain behind in today's competitive world.
Quality of implementation in other countries is remarkable whereas we have to upgrade ourselves. This would help us in presenting Delhi as a showpiece of India and a role model state.
The aspiration, which has been ignited, would prove to be a great motivating factor,''the Chief Minister said.
Present on the occasion were Secretary (TTE) G Narendra Kumar and other senior officials of TTE.
