Rupee gains fifteen paise, closes at 39.61/62 per USD

Mumbai, Feb 14: The Rupee today regained fifteen paise against the US Dollar to close firm at 39.61/62 from its previous close of 39.76/77 on strong inflows in the equity market. The local unit today resumed the day on a firm note at 39.72 per dollar and traded in a wide range band between 39.62 and 39.75 per dollar, before ending firm in late trade, in a fairly active interbank foreign exchange market, dealers said.

Meanwhile, the six months forward primia closed at 1.09 (0.38) per cent and annualised primia closed at 1.25 (0.90) per cent. The Reserve Bank of India today fixed the reference rate for the US dollar at Rs 39.65 as against privious rate of Rs 39.68. The Indian unit ended at 57.93 (57.96) against the Euro.

Rupee closed at 78.04 (78.05) per unit against the Pound Sterling and it ended the day at 36.62 (36.92) per hundred units against the Japanese Yen.
