Varanasi, Feb 14 (UNI) Shia Dharamguru Maulana Kalbe Javvad today said ''Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray was on the path of Mohammad Ali Jinna.'' ''If early steps were not taken to check Thackeray's activities, the unity and integrity of the nation would be in danger, Mr Javvad underlined while talking to newspersons here.
''There must be an effective check on the politics of regionalism and casteism...Raj is doing all this to gain cheap popularity,'' he maintained.
On Sunday, Mumbai police had registered a case against Mr Thackeray at the Vikhroli police station under sections 117, 151 and 153 (a) of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly making provocative speech against North Indians that sparked violence in Mumbai.
The MNS workers had manhandled some North Indians, besides vandalising their property such as taxis and shops.
The Shia Dharamguru further charged that the political parties made false promises to Muslims and encashed their votes, but did nothing for their welfare.
He exhorted Muslims to unite and come on one platform and fight for their rights.
When asked about the breaking of United Democratic Front (UDF), he said the internal politics of maulanas was responsible for it.
Mr Javvad further welcomed the announcement of Railways Minister Lalu Prasad that in the railway examinations, degree holders of madarsas would also be included.
