Sultanpur, Feb 14 (UNI) Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi would be on a one-day tour here on February 16 to participate in a National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) workshop to bring the centrally sponsored scheme on lines of Andhra Pradesh for its 'corruption free' implementation in Uttar Pradesh.
During his three-day visit to Sultanpur in January, the Amethi MP had assured that necessary amendments would be made in NREGS provisions so that its benefits could reach gram panchayats directly.
He had vowed that on February 16, an AP team would visit the district to tell the NREGS success tale in AP to public representatives and officials, besides training them to overcome the difficulties being faced in carrying out the scheme.
The Congress leader had also promised to participate in this workshop.
