Patan rape case: NGOs take out rally in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad, Feb 14 (UNI) Various voluntary organisations today staged a protest rally at Lal Darwaja area of the city against the alleged gangrape of a Dalit girl, studying at Patan-based Primary Teachers College, by six lecturers and demanded a probe by a Central investigative agency into the incident.
The organisations came out under the banner of Citizens' Forum Against Patan Gangrape incident.
Condemning the incident, the speakers resolved to carry on a sustained movement against it.
Expressing concern over the way women are being subjected to atrocities even in modern age, they said the incident was an alarm bell for the entire society.
On the occasion, they unanimously passed a resolution, demanding that the investigation of the incident be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
They also demanded the withdrawal of degrees awarded to the culprit lecturers, activation of sexual harassment resistance committee in all educational institutes, activation of state women commission, activation of state human rights committee and expediting the entire judicial procedure within a period of one month.
