Lucknow, Feb 14 (UNI) Dissatisfied over the reply of the government on the issue of inclusion of certain OBC castes in the SC category, the leader of the opposition in Uttar Pradesh assembly Mulayam Singh Yadav today led the walkout of his party members from the house The issue was raised through a question asking the government if a proposal in this regard was sent to the Centre and its subsequent follow up in the matter.
UP Social Welfare Minister Indrajit Saroj said the proposal had been rejected by the Centre and also the matter was in the High Court with stay on the process.
The minister's comment during the reply that the Mayawati government considered the issue as 'not in sync with the Constitution' prompted Mr Yadav to stand up and said how the such comment could be made since the matter was pending in the court. He also seemed dissatisfied with the absence of the government's clear stand if it was challenging the stay order in the court.
A lot of heated exchange of words took place between the treasury benches and the opposition, who traded charges of being insenstitive towards the welfare of certain Other Backward Castes (OBCs) in the question.
Meanwhile, SP member Vishambhar Prasad Nishad, along with two other members, came into well of the house, alleging the government never wanted some OBCs to be included in the category of Scheduled Caste.
Thereupon, SP members, led by Mr Yadav, staged a walk out from the house in protest.
