Lahore, Feb 14 (UNI) As the Australian cricket team's visit in March appears to be uncertain due to security concerns, Lloyds of London have expressed suspicion over existence of the PCB Insurance cover for tour cancellation.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Nasim Ashraf had told the media last month that Board has secured Insurance cover worth 7.4 Million dollars through a consortium under the umbrella of Llyods of London, yet he was not sure if the Insurance contained a specific compensation clause in case of Australian tour cancellation for want of security.
However, Bart Nash, a media officer in Lloyds of London informed Voice of America (VOA) that ''We don't sell any of the insurance, we provide a place that buyers and sellers can come together. As we do not insure things ourselves, rather act as a market for insurers, the best I can do is provide you with the names of the insurers that specialise in sports cancellation. They are Beazley, Hiscox, BRIT, Liberty, Talbot, Catlin&Kiln.'' Nash further added that ''I hesitate to say that it is usually the client that does not want to reveal details of deals, so if the PCB have, I suspect that the insurance exists.'' This statement from Lloyds of London calls for PCB coming out clean on this important issue and it would be in the interest of the sport that the detailed and factual position is made public.
