'Go to dogs'-- V-Day wishes from Hindu Munnani
Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, Feb 14 (UNI) Usual religious hymns during marriages rent the air and priests officiated a marriage. However, the couple were not human beings, but a dog and a bitch.
Hindu Maha Sabha (HMS) activists performed 'wedding of dogs,' in the city today, in a weird protest against Valentine's Day celebrations.
A female Pomeranian and a Rajapalayam dog, wearing glittering costumes were brought to the venue as 'bride and groom.' Nuptial knot was tied, on behalf of the male dog, amidst chanting of Vedic hymns. As in a normal wedding, musicians played Nadaswaram and Melam.
After the 'rituals,' the 'couple' was taken in a procession and the wedding party followed.
Later, talking to the media, HMS activists said the mock marriage was in protest against the penetration of western culture.
