Dalit officer summoned by UP Assembly Speaker
Lucknow, Feb 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar today decided to summon a Dalit District Development Officer (DDO) of Muzaffarnagar in his chamber following uproar in the Assembly by Congress members over the DDOs ''baseless'' charges against their party legislator.
On January 17 in Muzaffarnagar, the DDO, Brahamswaroop, had filed an FIR against legislator Pankaj Mallik. He alleged the legislator had threatened to kill him and and was racially abused.
The incident, already investigated into, was raised in the state Assembly by the legislator, and Congress leader Pramod Tiwari read out the contents of the case diary of Investigation Officer (IO) in the case. They contended that the allegations levelled against Mr Mallik in the FIR were found untrue.
Irked over the incident, some noisy scenes were witnessed in the House, prompting the Speaker to summon the DDO in his chamber in the presence of the legislator.
