CPI(M) demands reservation for Dalit Christians
Kottayam, Feb 14 (UNI) Communist Party of India(Marxist) state conference today urged the union government to introduce reservation for Dalit Christians.
Reservations should not be linked with religious faith, the meeting said and demanded reservation to Dalit Christians without reducing the benefits of other communities.
In another resolution the meeting demanded that the women reservation bill should be introduced and passed during the next session of the parliament.
The meeting urged the government to take steps to protect the agriculture sector of the state by correcting the globalisation and liberalisation policies, which were detrimental to the agriculture sector.
Due consideration for railway development in the state was another demand of the state conference.
The meeting in another resolution called upon anti-imperialist, secular and democratic forces to defend the left front governments in the country.
