AP mulls smart cards for payments
Hyderabad, Feb 14 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government is mulling to provide Smart cards to over one crore beneficiaries for making various payments, State Rural Development Minister G Chinna Reddy informed the Assembly today.
The Minister said the beneficiaries could draw money, including the wages under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), in the village itself by using the card.
The card's cost and infrastructure would be borne by the bank concerned and a service charge of two per cent on the total value of disbursement would be borne by the State government, he added.
