AMW makes its foray into Rajasthan market
Jaipur, Feb 14 (UNI) Asia Motor Works Ltd (AMW), the latest entrant in the Commercial vehicle arena and the first to launch the higher tonnage vehcile of 49 tonnes in the country, today announced its entry into Rajasthan by unveiling its dealership with Mahalaxmi Sales&Service.
Addressing a press conference here, Anirudh Bhuwalka, the MD and CEO of AMW said with the better road infrastructure and the Supreme court ruling banning overloading of trucks, the demand for heavy capacity trucks has increased tremendously. ''With the launch of the global truck series, we have consolidated our position in the market by selling 3000 units in the last one and a half years of its launch'', he added.
Speaking about the prospects of the Indian truck industry, he said truck industry has gradually evolved in recent years with ample business opportunities, with the truck trilor segment growing at 100 per cent. With rapid industrialisation, sustained GDP growth of more than 8.5 per cent and the government's focus on building the new highways projects like the Golden Quadrilateral project and the North South East West (NSEW) corridors, the freight industry poised for a major leap.
''With Rajasthan contributing to nearly 25 per cent of the North India market in the HCV segment , we see great potential for AMW trucks'', said Mr Bhuwalka.
Sr Vice presdient, marketing R C Mangal said, ''the global truck series features competitive pricing, higher tonnage capacity and comfy-quality interiors for the comfort of the drivers. These trucks are being manufactured at the company's state of the art plant in Bhuj in Gujarat. The present plant has a capacity to produce 10,000 trucks per annum.
Another plant, with a capacity of 50,000 trucks per annum, is under construction and would be commissioned in June this year, he added.
