All party meet on members' salary and perks increase issue

Lucknow, Feb 14: Uttar Pradesh assembly today unanimously agreed to convene an all party meet to decide enhancement of salary and allowances of the legislators.

Assembly Speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar accepted the demand raised in the House, mainly by the Congress members led by its legislature party leader Pramod Tiwari.

Mr Tiwari said that in view of the increasing prices, the salary and allowances of legislators should also be increased. However, Parliamentary affairs minister Lalji Verma said it was not possible at the moment owing to financial constraints.

The Congress member's demand to convene all party meeting on this matter was accepted by the Speaker, who issued the necessary directions to the government in this regard.
