Top companies show interest in thermal power project
Chandigarh, Feb 13 (UNI) The bidders conference Request for Qualification (RFQ) for selection of developers for the 1,320 MW thermal power project at Nalash Village, near Rajpura town of Patiala district was held here today in which a number of reputed companies participated.
This coal-based plant is a venture of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) for which a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) namely, Nabha Power Ltd (NPL), a wholly-owned company of PSEB has been set up for the project.
Nabha Power Ltd will take actions to ensure linkages for coal, water and to undertake studies for transportation, hydrological, topographical, EIA and other studies and surveys necessary for preparation of project report.
Prior to the bidders' conference a visit to the project site was conducted.
It is pertinent to mention that project will be awarded to a developer selected on the basis of tariff based competitive bidding.
The bidders conference was addressed by Mr Suresh Kumar, Secretary Irrigation and Power; Mr Y S Ratra, Chairman PSEB.
Mr Anurag Agarwal, Member Finance PSEB who is also CMD of the project made a presentation in the beginning giving details of the project.
This was followed by business session in which delegates asked questions and sought clarifications about the project.
Ground work of the project has already been started. Site of the proposed project has been cleared by the Central Electricity Authority. Land to the extent of 1085 acres has been identified and the process of land acquisition has started.
Notification under section 4 of Land Acquisition Act has been published. The state government has approved necessary water linkage for the project. Water is proposed to be drawn from Rajpura distributory of Bhakra Main Line.
According to Mr Suresh Kumar various studies have been commissioned and work is going-on at the site.
Some of the companies which participated in the Bidders' Conference included Bhilwara Energy, CLP Power, DS Construction, L and T, Reliance Energy, Tata Power, Nagarjuna Construction, GVK Infrastructure, JSW Power Trading, KSK Energy Ventures, Sriram EPC, Lanco Infratech, Siti Energy, Sterlite Industries, Devona Thermal Power and Infrastructure, Subhas Projects Pvt Ltd, EMCO Energy and Energy Infratech Pvt Ltd.
