Bangalore, Feb 13 (UNI) Activists belonging to a pro-Kannada organisation today ransacked South Western Railway (SWR) DRM's office in protest against Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's recent remarks against regionwise reservation.

The workers of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike raised slogans against the Railway minister who had said during his visit early this week that region wise reservation of jobs was not possible in the railways.

He had also condemned the protests by some organisations on this demand.

The organisation had been agitating against alleged 'step-motherly' attitude by the Indian Railways in appointing locals in Group 'D' jobs in SWR.

The Activists, numbering about 30, shouted slogans, entered the office and ransacked furniture, broke computers and glasses.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel brought the situation under control. However, no arrests were made so far, police said.

Meanwhile, workers of Janata Dal(S) burnt an effigy of Mr Prasad condemning his alleged remarks on the agitating organisations demanding more representation for locals in Group 'D' recruitment.
