Nigerian drug peddlar arrested in Delhi
New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) Delhi Police today arrested a Nigerian drug pedddlar who was trying to smuggle heroin concealed in a photo frame through courier.
Thirty-five-year-old Kingslay Duru Ike of Nigeria had approached the Blue Dart Courier Company at New Rajdhani Enclave in East Delhi for booking a photo frame to Canada, police said.
The courier charges for the unusually heavy photo frame amounted to Rs 4500, prompting the Manager to get suspicious, they added.
On being asked about the material, the Nigerian panicked and tried to flee along with the frame.
However, he was caught by the courier company officials who later informed the police.
The frame was thoroughly checked and about 200 gm of heroin found concealed in it, police said.
During interrogation, it was found that the accused had been living in a rented room in Patparganj area illegally as he did not possess any passport and valid visa.
A case under appropriate sections of the NDPS Act and the Foreigners Act had been registered against the Nigerian at the Preet Vihar police station.
Further investigations were in progress, police said.
