Mumbai businessman freed against Rs 15 lakh ransom
Shajapur, MP, Feb 13 (UNI) A Mumbai-based businessman, who was abducted on February 3 along with his wife and driver, today revealed here that they were freed against a ransom of Rs 15 lakh.
''The abductors initially demanded Rs 2 crore. They spoke of someone called Akram bhai. My younger brother handed over the ransom in Delhi, through someone, to an anonymous person as per the abductors' instructions,'' Mr Bhagwandas Chandnani told mediapersons.
He explained that while returning from Agra to Indore, a car stopped in front of their car near Dewas. Some persons got off, abducted the couple, their driver Dinesh Yadav and also took their car. Yadav somehow escaped the accused's clutches. Mr Chandnani was here today to take his car that was recovered by police at Bhopal Railway Station.
''Investigation is underway on the basis of Mr Chandnani's statement,'' said Sub-Divisional Officer (Police) Bharat Singh Chouhan.
''Sketches of five abductors have been released and a reward of Rs 5,000 announced for their arrest,'' said Superintendent of Police Manohar Singh.
