MLA cum artist's 'moves' turn dramatic at TN Secretariat
Chennai, Feb 13 (UNI) High drama was witnessed at the state Secretariat today, when Opposition AIADMK MLA and popular stage artiste and film actor S Ve Sekhar, came to the premises, amid widespread rumours that he had quit the party and was planning to resign his Assembly membership.
At a time when the top honchos of the AIADMK were busy attending the General Council meeting at suburban Vaanagaram chaired by party supremo J Jayalalithaa, political circles were agog with rumours that Mr Sekhar, upset over his being sidelined by the party and not being invited for the meeting, was rushing to the State Secretariat to put in his papers.
But when Mr Sekhar, elected from Mylapore constituency in the city, inhabited predominantly by the Brahmin community, indeed turned up at the Secretariat, there was high drama as a few AIADMK functionaries suddenly surfaced and virtually ''prevented'' him from putting in his papers.
As the decibel levels started rising, the actor himself was surprised to see so many party functionaries surrounding him.
''I had never intended to resign. I came here only to get a permission letter from the government to get special registration number for a car to be purchased in the next few days,'' he said.
