Godman held in fake currency racket
Hyderabad, Feb 13 (UNI) Cyberabad Police today arrested Nityananda Swamy alias Thripura Nanda Nadha, a self-styled godman for alleged involvement in a fake currency racket and possession of tiger claws, at his house in the city.
Speaking to the media here, DCP Damodar said following information given by two suspects arrested in connection with the recent theft in State Museum at Public Gardens, special teams raided the godman's house and recovered fake currency with a face value of Rs 31,000, two tiger claws and a paw.
He was allegedly engaged in printing and circulation of fake currency, the DCP added.
Police registered cases against him in fake currency racket and also under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
Meanwhile, the Swamiji told newspersons he was not involved in the racket and said there was a conspiracy against him.
