Formation of Third Front will help BJP: Raghavan
Kochi, Feb 13 (UNI) Communist Marxist Party (CMP) leader M V Raghavan today said the formation of a Third Alternative in the national politics would only ''split the secular votes'' and help ''communal parties'' like the BJP to regain power.
Mr Raghavan was reacting here to CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat's statement at the ongoing state Conference that ''time has now come for a Third Alternative to resolve the current issues confronting the nation''.
''The formation of a Third Front ten years ago only helped the BJP form a government at the Centre,'' the former Minister said.
Mr Raghavan, whose party is a constituent of the Opposition UDF in the Kerala Assembly, said the idea of Third Front was ''hollow'' as there was no clear thought into it.
''The CPI-M got just five per cent of the total votes in the last Parliamentary elections. I don't know how they are going to form an alternative with this meagre support,'' he noted.
He alleged the CPM was a ''bourgeois party'' and was working for the interests of corporates in West Bengal.
