New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) Domestic airline passenger traffic increased from 32.6 million in 2006 to 43.3 million in 2007-- a growth of 32.51 per cent.

''With the base also growing, the aviation sector is registering a higher growth,'' Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said today, addressing a meeting of the consultative committee attached to his ministry.

On the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines, he said several working groups and an Integration Team had been set up to move the process forward.

A III-tier grievance redressal machinery and an inter-ministerial grievance redressal committee had been put in place to address the employee grievances.

The fleet augmentation by the National Aviation Compant of India Ltd (NACIL) was also underway, he said.

Of the 111 state-of-the-art aircraft to be added to its fleet, three Boeing 777-200LR, three Boeing 777-300ER, ten Boeing 737-800, six A319 and five A321 aircraft had already been received.

The remaining would be received by 2011, he added.
