Kolhapur, Feb 13 (UNI) Well-known Marathi film actor Prashant Damle and noted painter Sudhir Katkar have been selected for this year's ''Chandrakant Mandre Arts Academy Awards''.
Speaking at a press conference here today, Academy directors Dr Jaysingrao Pawar and Shashikala Mandre said the annual awards were instituted in 1997 to perpetuate the memory of famous Marathi film actor Chandrakant Mandre, to honour Marathi film, theatre personalities and artists.
The awards will be presented to Mr Damle and Mr Katkar on February 16, at a function to be held here.
Mr Damle, who started his career in films in 1978 has won various awards for his acting excellency in films and drama.
The earlier recipients of the awards include film personalities Vikram Gokhale, Mohan Joshi, Kuldeep Pawar, Dileep Prabhavalkar, Rahul Solapurkar, Suhas Joshi, Arun Nalawade and Atul Kulkarani.
The artists, who have won the awards include Sharad Kapuskar, Vasudev Kamat, Anil Naik, Vijay Achrekar, Vijay Raut and Chandrajit Yadav.
