CYMA rescues four Mizo youths from Myanmar jail
Aizawl, Feb 13 (UNI) The Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) claimed that it rescued four Mizo youths from the Rangoon (Yangon) Jail in Myanmar, who had been lodged in the prison for the past six years.
CYMA sources said yesterday two of the rescued prisoners, both residents of Lungpuk village in Saiha district near the Myanmar border, had been languishing in the Myanmar jail for the past six years whereas the other two had been arrested by the Myanmar Army while straying into their territory while hunting.
After the CYMA's intervention, the Myanmar authorities extradited the prisoners to India. They were first handed over to the Manipur police who immediately remanded them in Imphal's Sajiwa Jail. Later, the Imphal branch of the CYMA got them released on bail and finally sent them to Aizawl on Monday.
