Kakinada, Feb 13 (UNI) Anganwadi workers in Andhra Pradesh will take up 'Chalo Hyderabad' stir on February 27, demanding regularisation of their services, State Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union President G Babyrani said today.

Addressing a press conference here, she said over 10,000 workers would participate in the stir. They demanded that their services should be regularised and a G O should be issued, giving effect to the assurance given by the Chief Minister on hiking the wages of anganwadi workers and helpers and their prompt payment every month, she added.

Stating that over 1.47 lakh anganwadi workers and helpers were working in the State, she said the Government should earmark an additional amount of Rs 135 crore in the State Budget for hiking their wages at Rs 1,000 for anganwadi workers and Rs 500 for helpers.

She demanded payment of Rs one lakh to the anganwadi worker and Rs 50,000 to the helper towards ex-gratia at the time of retirement and also ending of political interference in the appointment of anganwadi workers and maintenance of the anganwadi centres.
