Hyderabad, Feb 13 (UNI) Two members of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were suspended from the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council for the day today, for obstructing the House proceedings, demanding that the government adopt a resolution in favour of separate Telangana.
Council Chairman A Chakrapani suspended TRS Floor Leader Dilip Kumar and Rehman Khan from the House after Energy and Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir moved a resolution for their suspension.
Immediately after the session began, the TRS MLCs moved an adjournment motion, asking the government to adopt a resolution, favouring statehood for Telangana.
When the Chairman rejected the demand, the two MLCs rushed to the podium and obstructed the proceedings by raising slogans like 'Jai Telangana', resulting in the adjournment of the House for more than 20 minutes.
The TRS MLCs continued to raise the Telangana issue even after the House re-assembled, forcing the Chairman to suspend the duo.
Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah said the Telangana issue was in the hands of AICC President Sonia Gandhi. It was not possible to adopt a resolution on Telangana in the house.
CPI Floor Leader P Nageshwara Rao said, ''we will support the resolution if the government introduced it. But the party will not take an initiative in this regard.'' UNI AP VA JJ GL RK1705
