YMA rescues four Mizo youths from Myanmar jail
Aizawl, Feb 12 (UNI) The Central Young Mizo Association (YMA) today claimed that it rescued four Mizo youths from the Rangoon (Yangon) Jail at Myanmar, who had been lodged at the prison since the past six years.
YMA sources said two of the rescued prisoners, both residents of Lungpuk village in Saiha district near the Myanmar border, had been languishing in the Myanmar jail since the past six years whereas the other two had been arrested by the Myanmar Army while straying into their territory while hunting.
After the YMA's intervention, the Myanmar authorities extradited the prisoners to India. They were first handed over to the Manipur police who immediately remanded them in Imphal's Sajiwa Jail. Later, the Imphal branch of the YMA got them released on bail and finally sent them to Aizawl yesterday.
