Mumbai violence spreads to Nashik

Nashik, Feb 12: Violence erupted in various parts of Nashik city today following an FIR being registered against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray in Mumbai yesterday.

Shops and business establishments downed shutters, fearing retaliation by MNS workers in the event of Mr Thackeray's arrest. Security too has been beefed up in the city. Stone pelting by angry mobs was reported from the city's Shalimar and Bytco squares. Few shops were also ransacked prompting the shops to down their shutters. The Satpur and Ambad industrial areas too preferred to remain closed today.

Additional police has been deployed in various parts of the city, including Shalimar and Ambad Chowk, Satpur, Nashik Road, MNS head office at Mumbai Naka and suburbs of the city.
