UP DGP moots early bail for bailable offences

Lucknow, Feb 12 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh director general of police Vikram Singh today issued a circular asking officials at the district level to grant bail to people, who have been arrested under bailable offences at police station itself.

In a circular issued today, the DGP said police station officials should exercise powers to grant bail to people arrested in bailable offences. Producing such offenders or accused before magistrates increases load on lower judiciary and consumes time.

On an earlier occasion too, a similar circular was issued.

He also said the police would soon launch an exercise to inform the common man about human rights. He felt that most of the people, especially in villages, were unaware about their rights and it was important for the police to inform them about the issue.
