NGO seeks PM's intervention in missing case
Lucknow, Feb 12 (UNI) An NGO has sought Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's intervention into the disappearance case of the organisation Director's daughter, who went missing on February 5.
According to NGO members, the Director was vehemently pursuing the case of a Dalit woman who was allegedly raped by owner of a carpet factory Gulam Rasool. ''Because of this, Rasool is suspected of kidnapping 20-year-old Rachna'', they said.
Dalit woman Santosh was working in a carpet factory. She was lured into an illicit relationship with Rasool, police said.
The lady, who had been working in the factory for 12 years, had a 4-year-old son and was pregnant.
Compelled by family members, Rasool stopped paying Rs 3,000 to the woman and also refused to marry her.
Irked over this, Santosh started living in a 'jhuggi' in front of his house. Subsequently, the matter was brought to the notice of police. They also met Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal regarding the matter.
Later, the case was placed before the Prime Minister.
However, Rasool is absconding. He had been booked under SC/ST Act and rape charges.
Meawhile, an unnamed FIR had been lodged.
The NGO will stage a demonstration against both the cases at Patel Chowk tomorrow.
