Chowrasia leads Asian Tour Order of Merit; 4 Indians in first 5

New Delhi, Feb 12, (UNI) SSP Chowrasia's landmark victory at the Emaar MGF Indian Masters has taken him to the top of the UBS Asian Tour Order of Merit.

His earnings currently stand at 416,660 dollars.

In fact the week gone by has proved to be very profitable for Indian golfers as four of them are now in the top five of the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

In second place is Chowrasia's compatriot member Digvijay Singh who had tied fourth finish at Emmar-MGF Indian Masters which took his total earnings to 115,500 dollars.

Gaurav Ghei's tied sixth finish in hat tourney has placed him third (66,200 dollars). In the process, Ghei also became the 17th player and fourth Indian to surpass one million US dollars in career earnings on the Asian Tour.

Arjun Atwal's tied 15th in Delhi has placed him fifth (34,500 dollars).

Jyoti Randhawa is currently tied seventh in the money list while Shiv Kapur is tied 15th.

Also Chowrasia's stellar performance that earned him a full card on the European and Asian Tours till 2010 has also helped him climb to seventh on the European Tour Order of Merit with earnings of Euro 280,561.

The icing on the cake for Chowrasia was his rise to 161 in the Official World Golf Rankings. This is an improvement of more than 200 places from his last ranking.
