Mumbai, Feb 12: Facing a case of making inflammatory speech, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Asim Azmi today walked into the city Police Commissioner D N Jadhav's office seeking the police to take action as a fall out of the North Indian issue.

However, the Commissioner sent him back stating that the police would act whenever necessary and there was no need for his arrest at this juncture despite the case being filed.

Mr Azmi told the media waiting in the Commissioner's office that he had offered himself to be arrested as he was receiving a number of calls from across the country about the case.

Police have promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in around 100 metre area surrounding the residences of both Mr Azmi and MNS chief Raj Thackeray since last night.
