Two held for helping LeT terrorists; probe handed over to ATS

Pratapgarh/Lucknow, Feb 11 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh police claimed to have arrested two persons for providing logistical support to the six terrorists held yesterday for the Rampur CRPF camp and IISc, Bangalore attacks.

Meanwhile, the state police this evening handed over 14 cases relating to the arrest of six LeT militants and the serial court blasts in November in Varanasi, Faizabad and Lucknow to the newly-formed Anti-Terrorist Squad.

Additional Director General of Police (Crime/Law and Order and STF) Brijlal said here that while one was arrested from Pratapgarh, the other was arrested from Bareilly.

Mohd Kausar from Kunda, Pratapgarh had kept the weapons used for the CRPF camp attack at his house. Gulab of Shahgarh, Bareilly had also kept the same weapons a week before the January 1 attack.

Mohd Kausar and met and befriended one of the terrorists Suhail in a Gulf country in 2002. Suhail had brought the weapons to his house in September, 2007 for safe keeping. The LeT terrorist used to frequent his house to oil the weapons. A week before the attack, the weapons were shifted to Gulab's house in Bareilly. Gulab is the brother-in-law of Suhail.

''Henceforth, the 14 cases relating to the arrests of six LeT men, the court blasts and the subsequent arrest of two HuJI men for the blasts will be tackled by the ATS,'' Mr Brijlal added.
