Sugar prices rise on good demand from retailers

Navi Mumbai, Feb 11 (UNI) Prices of both small and medium grade sugar rose today on good demand from retailers in the wholesale sugar market, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said.

Sugar prices in small and medium grades shot up by Rs 5 and Rs 10 per quintal respectively on fresh buying support.

Ex-mill small and medium grades also moved up by Rs 20 and Rs 5 per quintal respectively due to reduced stock supplies, traders added.

Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,390/1,445, Medium grade: Rs 1,425/1,516.

Ex-mill Small grade: Rs 1,380/1,400 and Medium grade: Rs 1,420/1,480.
