Strikes responsible for piled up cases in court: Gokhale
Gorakhpur, Feb 11 (UNI) Expressing concern over regular strikes in court, Allahabad High Court Chief Justice H N Gokhale today advised advocates that protests are not a solution to any problem.
While addressing a meeting here, Mr Gokhale said ''it is the petitioners who suffer the most by the day to day lawyers strikes.'' ''Lawyers should abandon such habit and focus on the speedy trials of pending cases,'' he suggested.
Quoting the official figures, he said ''over eight lakh cases are pending in High Court and over 45 lakh in lower courts for several reasons, which include regular strikes by the law practitioners.'' He further directed the judiciary staff to work honestly and clear the pending cases at the earliest.
