Puducherry: Robbers decamp with cash, idol
Puducherry, Feb 11: Robbers gained entry into the famous Thirukkameswarar temple at Villianur near here last night and decamped with cash and an idol. Police said they broke the Hundi and collected about Rs 10,000 and a three-foot idol made of copper.
The incident came to light when the priest opened the temple this morning. Based on a complaint from the temple authorities, a case had been registered. Fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs were also pressed into service, police added.
